GLORY DAYS FOR INGLEWOOD SS P-10
Inglewood SS P-10 is experiencing success after success on the sporting front and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Life can certainly throw up its challenges which is why when the going is good it is cause for celebration. Read on to find out just why we are celebrating so keenly!
DD Touch Trials: Congratulations to Declan, Lucas, Will, Ella, Mackenzie and Ethan for giving their all and competing in the MacIntyre Zone team at the DD Trials in March in Toowoomba. Our students had some stiff competition and gained enormously from the experience. Thanks also to our Principal (Mrs Ditchburn) for her support by coaching the Boys team – we are so lucky!
Our keen crew of Declan, Will, Imogen and Emily remained focussed over holidays and continued to train intensively for the Queensland State Trials for Triathlon (Emily) and Aquathlon (Declan, Imogen and Will) in Hervey Bay. All competed magnificently and did their school, region and families proud. With the AUSTRALIAN AQUATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS here in Queensland this year, organisers were so impressed with Declan and Will’s performance organisers gave the boys an invitation to compete – what an honour. Both boys ran and swam well, gaining 23rd and 29th results respectively – pretty amazing for National placings!!! A fitting reward for all their hard efforts.
Queensland Swim Trials Representing our Darling Downs Region, Regan, Ryan and Imogen swam well amidst the best of the best our state has to offer. All gained enormously from the experience and some pretty fantastic times were earned to boot! All are so close to a finals berth it’s only a matter of time before it happens. Congratulations to all three swimmers on their magnificent efforts with training and professional approach to this high level sport – you do us proud.
MacIntyre Cross Country A pumped and ready Inglewood SS team headed to Goondiwindi to compete at this event and the results were truly spectacular! Each student gave their all and as a result, came home with not one, but two trophies to boot! Congratulations to our entire team taking out the Percentage trophy and tying for first with St Mary’s for the Overall trophy – a terrific team achievement. Well done to Charlotte, Will, Zeb, Ella, Jack, Darcy, Declan, Mackenzie and Imogen on their selection in the team to continue on to Darling Downs trials.
Border District Cross Country A much smaller bunch, but no less keener, of students headed to Warwick to compete at the Border District trials and results were again impressive by our wonderful high school students. Every student trained hard and our entire team earned Personal Best times on the day – woohoo! Special congratulations to Ben, Brody, Regan, Ryan and Brock who were chosen to compete at the next level at the DD trials.
Darling Downs Orienteering Declan and Emily have spent many weekends driving all over the countryside then running all over the countryside with a map and compass in their quest for selection in the Darling Downs team. Both students have attended many training days and camps and their hard work, training and persistence has paid off! Congratulations to both for gaining selection to the DD team – our school is so proud of your efforts!
Darling Downs Basketball Not to be outdone, Tara has also been working hard on her skills, training in lunch hours and morning tea times in her efforts to improve her shooting and dribbling skills. Persistence wins the day again with Tara gaining selection as a Shadow player for the U15 DD Girls team – what a terrific achievement! We’re keeping our fingers crossed she gets a call.
Darling Downs Rugby League Another couple of students who put enormous effort into their sport of Rugby League attending games, carnivals, training days and the like, are Lucas and Ethan. Both were fortunate to gain selection for the MacIntyre teams and attended DD trials. Well done to both on their hard efforts and especially to Ethan on his selection in the Darling Downs team – we are so thrilled for him!
Darling Downs Soccer After their selection in the MacIntyre team, Jai, Declan, Hailey, Ella and Gemma attended the recent Darling Downs trials. Apparently all had a magnificent day and enjoyed the chance to play a game they love at the next level.
Darling Downs Cross Country Our students have been training hard for this event and our school was hopeful that a combination of hard work and good fortune would win the day for them – which it did! Our results were immensely pleasing with students running their little hearts out on the day. Well done to Mackenzie, Zeb, Jack, Darcy, Imogen, Ella, Declan, Will, Ryan and Regan for truly worthy results for their months of training. Special congratulations to Will for placing 4th and scoring a berth on the Darling Downs Cross Country team – great work!
Plenty more trials, Track & Field carnivals and Broncos competitions are still to come so we hope to have many more great results to share. Without doubt, Inglewood SS P-10 is currently experiencing heady days of sporting glory – long may it continue!
