Story time at Playgroup.

Learning starts Early at Inglewood State School.

The squeals of delight and smiles on the faces of all are evidence that Mrs Sandy Hobbs is providing a Playgroup at Inglewood State School that is not only high level learning but also FUN!

Each Wednesday Sandy, (one of our Prep Teacher Aides), provides Playgroup to a keen group of 0-5 year olds.

Conducted in the leafy surrounds of the Prep area, it helps to provide a smooth transition for those nearing school age and demystify the schooling process for parents and participants alike.

Sandy has always had a variety of activities set up at the start for the children to explore at their own pace, giving parents some much needed connection time with other parents and giving the young children fantastic skill development in a variety of areas in readiness for school.

After activities, children (and parents of babies) sit on the parachute for story time, and what a treat that is! Sandy's expressive and energetic storytelling ability is truly a wonder to behold. (You could be forgiven for thinking you had stepped into a TV Playschool episode!)

The morning finishes with satisfied faces on the children and parents and the ever-growing numbers are evidence the program is a hit with one and all.

Sandy says, "Playgroup is a fantastic start for our newest learners and the whole program is just so much fun for everyone."

The program is an initiative by the Queensland Government aimed at readying students for the rigours of formal learning in Prep. New members are welcome and encouraged to attend each Wednesday. It is a well known fact that you're never too young to learn and this is definitely true at the Inglewood State School Playgroup program!
