Students on QUEST for Knowledge!

“The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination”, said one of the greatest thinkers of our time, Albert Einstein. The University of Southern Queensland recently held an inaugural QUEST competition in Toowoomba, seeking those qualities of intelligence and imagination in our regional youth.

Teams of 3, defined by age group categories, toughed it out over the two days solving problems and generating solutions to a range of set tasks by the organisers, BRAINWAVES through USQ.  Fields of Mathematics, Science and Humanities were the focus with activities pitched at extraordinarily high-level thinking strategies.  (As the University was on a QUEST to find the best thinkers of our district to represent the Darling Downs region at the State Finals – this was no surprise!)

Inglewood State P-10 School sent a team to Toowoomba for each division namely, Prep-Year 2 (Emma, Ty and Chelsey), Years 3-5 (Declan, Steven and Eloise) and Years 6-8 (Holly, Kate and Matt).  Our students performed magnificently and we are proud to announce not one but TWO of our teams gained selection for the State Finals!

Students from all over Queensland have been engaged in similar selection processes at universities across the state, vying for inclusion in the QUEST State Final that was held at Griffith University in Brisbane on Saturday, 14 November.

Our Prep-Year 2 team and Years 6-8 team then headed to Brisbane to face other students in, what promised to be, a showdown of some of the best junior minds our State has to offer.  Our Inglewood State P-10 School teams performed fantastically and we are justifiably proud of all our teams.  It has been a euphoric journey and we look forward to the event again next year!
